Viewing Help: Read all three

(1) Problem Viewing Buddog Web Pages, gray boxes?

If you can only view the text and see gray box or boxes on your desktop, you need to update your virtual machine software or your browser. All the network servers have updated their software to comply with the new higher security XP software versions from Microsoft, doing so some older browser versions cannot display the Java Script language, giving you a gray box instead. This is true not only for this web site but all web sites that contain Java scripts. On Windows 98 versions and newer versions click the windows update icon and select the free virtual machine update. Another way is to update your web browser entirely. The newest version of Internet Explorer (IE6) from Microsoft is available for a free  download at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1e1550cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&DisplayLang=en  (Windows XP, Read below) Be sure to read all the installation instructions carefully before downloading and installing any and all software on your computer. If you are using a third party software like Aol etc. contact your software customer support. You will have a link for your browsers online customer support, normally located on the help menu.

(2) What's a Java VM?  Why do I need it?

What's a Java VM?  Why do I need it?

You need a Java Virtual Machine (VM) for your browser if you want to run Java applets.

Why does Microsoft not supply its own Java VM?

Microsoft no longer distribute their Java VM, although you can update an installed Java VM at Windows Update. For some versions of Windows, Windows Update Catalog will let you download a VM installation/update.

Printing:

Highlight the area desired as described in Copy and Paste.

The recipe pages are designed to be printed without the text going off the page when printed. If the background texture is being printed along with the text. On any Microsoft's browsers, click the start menu, click settings, click control panel, click internet options, click advanced top folder tab, scroll down to printing, uncheck Print background colors and images. If you have I-Explorer open, click tools dropdown menu, click folder options click advanced top folder tab, scroll down to printing, uncheck Print background colors and images. On Aol or any other browser there are similar types of setting. We are not familiar with these browsers, you can always click the help dropdown menu to locate this setting.

All other pages such as the Genealogy pages when sent directly to the printer will not print full sentences because of the width of the page is wider than the printer paper. You  will have to use the copy  and paste method in you word processor program. This will allow you to print the entire contents on the pages.
