DeShazo Final Rites In Memphis Wednesday

Final rites for J.M. DeShazo former Childress, TX resident, were held yesterday in Memphis at the Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. E. Norman of Willington, Rev. M.M. Moran of Memphis and Rev. W.H. Colson of Childress officiating.

Grandsons serviced as pallbearers.  They were J.A., Rockne, Randie, Charles, Donald and Stanley DeShazo.  Flower girls were Tommye Ann DeShazo, Betty Harris, Mary Helen DeShazo, Eleta Harris, Lavania Fisher and Barbara Teague.

Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery under the direction of Murphy-Spicer Funeral Directors.

Midlothan - Services for William Allen DeShazo 83, of Fort Worth, TX and formerly of Childress, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Coward Funeral Home Chapel of Midlothian.

Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Midlothian under direction of Coward Funeral Home of Midlothian.

He died at 6:00 p.m. Monday in Lake Worth Nursing Home in Fort Worth, TX after a brief illness.

He was born August 14, 1900.  He was a long time resident of Childress and briefly lived in Arizona.  He had lived in Fort Worth, TX the past several years.  He was a retired farmer and sheet metal worker.

(Ottie) Moore of Lubbock, TX; nine grandchildren and five great grand children.

He died Wednesday in Childress, Regional Medical Center (6-21-1991)

Born October 12, 1903 in Emory, TX, he came to Childress at the age of 17.  He was an automobile mechanic, working 25 years for the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation, retiring in 1968.

He was later employed as a salesman for Cline Motor Co.  He also worked as a night watchman for Lancer Mobile Homes.

He became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in 1932 and was a deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

He married Jessie Mae Hall, January 18, 1926.  She died April 22, 1982.

He married Elsie Cooper January 9, 1983 in Childress, TX.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; two sons and their wives, M.L. (Tinker) and Donna DeShazo of Valley View, TX and J.A. and Mary DeShazo of Teague, TX; one step daughter, Sandra Barber of Amarillo, TX; a brother Aubra DeShazo Lubbock, TX.  a sister Edna Land of Fort Worth, TX; five grandchildren, seven great grand children and three great great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and one step great great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Monson, R.L. Prescott, Bill Wheeler, Kenneth McClendon, Mac Tucker and Joe King.

A native of Eldorado, Oklahoma, DeShazo had lived in Lubbock, TX for 25 years, moving from Childress, TX.  He married Vera Pangle March 27, 1932 in Durant, Oklahoma.  He retired from Borden Inc. and a member of Parkway Drive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, two sons - R.F. and J.R. both of Amarillo, TX and a daughter, Juana D. Hollaway of Albuquerque, NM., three brothers, Marshall DeShazo - Childress, TX, Allen DeShazo - Forth Worth, TX, and Aubra M. DeShazo - Lubbock, TX.  Three sisters, Ottie Moore of Lubbock, TX, Odessie King - Clarendon, TX and Edna Land of Forth Worth, TX and six grandchildren.
